Entertainment retailer Game Group has appointed a new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) in order to help the company keep up with the demands of the ever-changing video gaming market.
Dave Hughes will join the business in April, leaving behind his job as a director of Marks & Spencer’s (M&S) online offering M&S Direct to guide Game’s new strategy.
Earlier this month the retailer said it aims to make innovations to its existing formats and venture further into social and mobile gaming over the course of the year, and Hughes’ arrival is sure to be a part of these plans.
The new recruit oversaw all online and direct sales channels at M&S, and he has picked up relevant marketing, e-commerce, sales and business development experience in previous roles with KPMG, Sainsbury’s, Intercontinental Hotels and Galileo.
Hughes will report directly to Game Group CEO Ian Shepherd, who is relatively new to the business himself having joined last summer from telecoms firm Vodafone.
Commenting on the appointment, Shepherd said: “I am delighted to welcome Dave to Game.
“He brings passion, energy and a wealth of multichannel experience which will add tremendously to our business.
“Game is evolving fast, and I have created the CMO role to ensure that we continue to meet the expanding needs of our customers in every sales channel.”
