UK pharmacy chain Lloydspharmacy has appointed former Carphone Warehouse (CPW) manager Jeff Wemyss as its Head of Retail.
The new recruit was Head of Group Celluar Buying at CPW, but has had experience of the health & beauty industry before as Trading Director at Superdrug and on the buying teams of Boots and Safeway.
Wemyss holds more than 15 years’ experience in the retail industry in total and his arrival at Lloydspharmacy comes one month after the company named Tony Page as its new Managing Director.
As part of Page’s senior management set-up, Wemyss is responsible for leading a team of 26, and is tasked with developing and enhancing the proposition delivered to customers in the chain’s network of 1,600-plus UK stores.
Commenting on his new position, Wemyss said: “This is the most exciting job in health & beauty retail at the moment.
“There is an enormous amount of potential for the Lloydspharmacy brand.”
Lloydspharmacy recently announced it will be launching a new in-store magazine, entitled All of You, in an attempt to keep its customers better informed about the company and issues surrounding the business, and it appears there will be further developments in the year ahead.
Wemyss added: “Although it is a healthcare company there is a lot of scope to build on developing the OTC health & beauty product ranges.
“With so much change afoot in the pharmacy sector, this is fuelling rapid and exciting innovation.”
