Automotive and leisure products retailer Halfords has announced the appointment of David Adams as a non-executive director, effective from March 1st 2011.
Adams currently holds a number of non-exec positions, including at fashion retailer Alexon Group where he has been advising the board since August last year.
The British Retail Consortium, JJB Sports and Jessops also benefit from his expertise, as does the charity Walk the Walk, having all previously appointed him in a non-executive capacity.
Halfords’ new recruit brings with him a wealth of retail experience, having held positions such as Deputy CEO at department store group House of Fraser and Finance Director at Topshop.
Dennis Millard, Chairman of Halfords, which recently brought in e-commerce expert Claudia Arney as a non-executive director, said: “David brings extensive and very relevant financial and business experience and a deep knowledge of the retail sector.
“He will be a valuable member of our board and I am delighted to welcome him to Halfords.”
Adams will chair the board’s Audit Committee, a position he takes over from current Chairman Nigel Wilson who will be retiring from the Halfords board at the end of March.
“I would like to thank Nigel Wilson for his outstanding contribution to Halfords over the last seven years in his roles as acting Chairman, prior to my appointment, and as Audit Committee chairman,” Millard added.
“I would also like to thank him personally for his astute insight and support.”
