International distribution and outsourcing group Bunzl has today announced the appointment of Eugenia Ulasewicz as a non-executive director.
Starting on April 1st she will bring considerable retail experience onto the Bunzl board, having held the position of President of Burberry in North & South America since 1998.
Bunzl will be hoping that Ulasewicz, who has also held senior positions at US-based retailers Saks Fifth Avenue, Galeries and Bloomingdale’s, will help turn around a disappointing recent performance which saw revenues fall by five per cent last year.
“I am very pleased that Eugenia has agreed to join the board,” commented Philip Rogerson, Chairman of Bunzl.
“She has a wealth of experience in the retail sector and has overseen the recent growth and successful development of Burberry, Americas which includes both wholesale and retail businesses and an extensive distribution network.
“Her experience will be of great value as Bunzl continues to expand.”
In other recent supply chain recruitment news, Paul Gallagher was named as the new UK & Ireland CEO of global logistics firm Damco after the resignation of two members of its senior management.
Former CEO Shaun McLean and Managing Director of Great Britain Aron Newton stood down from their positions at the end of last month over disagreements with the company’s financial results for 2010.
With over 30 years of experience within the shipping, freight forwarding and logistics industry Gallagher is stepping up from his current role as Chief Operating Officer.
“I am excited about the opportunity to lead such an exceptional team; the enthusiasm, competence, and quality of our staff in Damco to me are the key differentiators in this business,” Gallagher said.
