World Design and Trade (WDT), owner of fashion brands Firetrap and Fullcircle, has signed a new three-year deal with logistic specialists Wincanton, it was revealed today.
Distribution from WDT’s solitary 90,000 sq ft warehouse in Acton was previously managed internally but Wincanton will take control of end-to-end supply chain operations for the company.
The millions of SKU’s despatched from the Acton site are handled by 18 warehouse employees who will all remain under the new deal but will now be employed directly by Wincanton.
Nick Fox, WDT’s Logistics and Operations Director, commented: “WDT is all about excellence, passion and enthusiasm, values that Wincanton share with us.
“Outsourcing our warehousing to Wincanton will help us be more efficient and deliver the premium quality service that our customers associate with the Firetrap and Fullcircle brands.”
Despite increasing its service across the UK, Wincanton is undergoing a restructuring process and admitted last month that more efficiency savings could be made to its operations.
It employs 28,000 people across Europe with an annual turnover last year of £2.18 billion. Its latest set of full-year results are due at the end of this month.
Paul Durkin, Business Unit Director for Wincanton, added: “We’re delighted to be partnering with WDT, creators of some of the most original and edgy fashion in the UK.
“In today’s complex, multichannel retail landscape, the brands with a winning edge are the ones who respond most quickly to today’s demanding consumers. We’re determined to help WDT do exactly that.”
