Tesco renews payments deal with WorldPay


The UK’s number one grocer has renewed its partnership with payments acquirer WorldPay, according to a statement released today.

Covering the operations across the UK and Ireland, including, the deal will see WorldPay’s face-to-face payments arm Streamline continue to provide the supermarket group’s Visa card acquiring service.

Recent Kantar Worldpanel data showed that Tesco’s UK till roll totalled just over £7.35 million in the 12 weeks to February 20th 2011, highlighting the importance of having a suitable payments systems in place to deal with its high number of daily customer transactions.

Michael Fletcher, Corporate Procurement Director at Tesco, commented: “As the UK’s largest retailer, it is critical that the acquiring service we use is capable of handling the large volumes of card transactions which we experience on a daily basis and able to offer reliable support to us at peak trading times.

Matt Rowsell, Chief Commercial Officer at Streamline, added: “We are delighted that our relationship with Tesco is continuing.
