Stationary and card retailer Paperchase will open its first flagship store in Scotland when Land Securities’ Glasgow Buchanan Street retail development opens for business in 2013, it was announced today.
At almost 17,000 sq ft in size, the shop will look similar to its London West End and Manchester outlets, and sit alongside some recognisable fashion names that have already confirmed their presence on the street.
Land Securities also confirmed today that Gap will also let a unit at the Glasgow site, taking a space near to US clothing specialist Forever 21’s 60,000 sq ft anchor store.
Following confirmation of the new arrivals the project is 68 per cent pre-let on income and 75 per cent by space, with just eight shop and restaurant units still to be snapped up.
Richard Akers, Land Securities Managing Director for Retail, commented: “We’re really pushing ahead on developments and are seeing great momentum with this scheme securing strong lettings, which will crown Buchanan Street.
Paperchase CEO Timothy Melgund said that customers should expect to see something different from its new Scottish outlet.
“The store in the Buchanan Street development will be our most innovative design to date, which we hope will appeal to our loyal Glasgow customers,” he explained.
Redevelopment of the Atlas site in Glasgow was approved by the local council last month, and once opened it will play an important role in the city’s preparations for the Commonwealth Games, which it hosts in 2014.
