Former Matalan CEO Alastair McGeorge has been appointed Group Executive Chairman at high street fashion retailer New Look.
He left the homeware and clothing retailer last November after almost four years in the role, during which time he helped transform the business and return the company to growth.
McGeorge will officially join New Look on May 3rd, where he will work with the new look team formed in the wake of the resignations last month of CEO Carl McPhail and Non-Executive Chairman John Gildersleeve.
Founder and majority shareholder Tom Singh returned to the business as interim exec chairman following these departures, and he is confident the former Matalan man is right fit for the role.
“We are delighted that Alistair will be joining New Look,” he remarked.
“With his strong background in value retailing he brings the strategic, leadership and operational skills the group needs to help it move to the next stage of its development.”
McGeorge added: “Along with the rest of the New Look team, I will be working to ensure that we are focused on delivering great product and the performance that our customers have come to expect of us.”
Singh will continue to work in an operational capacity alongside the new Chairman, with his focus on product.
