UK-based real estate firm Hammerson has announced the appointment of Judy Gibbons to its executive board, in a statement released today.
Gibbons has over 25 years’ experience working for leading technology firms, including her last role as Corporate Vice-President of Global Sales and Marketing for Microsoft’s internet division MSN.
She has also held positions at Hewlett-Packard, Apple and latterly Microsoft, where she worked from 1994 to 2005.
John Nelson, Chairman of Hammerson, commented: “I’m extremely pleased that we have been able to secure someone with Judy’s experience to our board.
“In particular, her appointment will help us develop further our understanding of the opportunities and challenges that multi-channel retailing presents to a landlord, and follows the strengthening of our operational team in this area.”
Hammerson is the owner of several of the biggest retail properties in the UK including the Bullring and Cabot Circus shopping centres in Birmingham and Bristol respectively.
In February the company posted an increase of occupancy to 97 per cent at the end of their full-year period and a year-on-year rise in profit-before-tax of 11.2 per cent.
Starting on May 1st 2011, Hammerson will be Gibbons latest non-executive position, as she currently fulfils the same role for Guardian Media Group.
Gibbons is also a Venture Partner at Accel Partners, a technology focused venture capital firm, and was formerly a non-executive director at telecoms company O2.
