Camera and photographic product retailer Jessops has today announced that the point of sale (POS) touch screens installed in its new ‘Centre of Excellence’ store in Birmingham use “industry-first technology”.
The Toccare Bezel Free Touch screens from tech solutions specialist DigiPos Store Solutions have enabled Jessops to improve its in-store interaction with customers.
Some eight screens have been installed in the store, allowing the retailer’s staff to showcase all the products and services the company provides.
Commenting on the new technology, Retail Technical Support Analyst at Jessops Kam Patel said: “The black gloss finish of the Toccare screens fits in really well with the look and feel of the new concept stores, and the product is also strong and durable - given we plan to use these screens for a long time these were key factors.”
Ian Patterson, Managing Director of the EMEA region at DigiPos Store Solutions, added: “Touch screen technology is becoming a must have for retailers when it comes to the POS.
“When tills are right in front of the customer they need to look good.”
Retailers are increasingly identifying POS as an area where consumer-retailer relationships can be improved to boost sales, and it is widely predicted that mobile POS (MPOS), often through the use of increasingly ubiquitous tablet devices, will be a more regular feature of the retail landscape in the coming year.
The Managing Director of mobile retail software provider Global Bay’s European operation, Justin Coward, told Retail Gazette recently that retailers are quickly learning that using MPOS technology can drive revenue and save them money in the long term.
“Customers would like to see this technology in stores and it fits in with retailers wanting to provide a high-end service,” he explained.
“MPOS can also help retail staff secure a transaction on the shop floor, which is useful to retailers and shoppers alike.”
