Lloydspharmacy to offer click and collect service


High street health & cosmetics retailer Lloydspharmacy has signed a new POS solutions deal to help it streamline its payment and delivery services, it was confirmed today.

Global technology solutions provider Torex will help the retailer simplify its payment solution to bring important new services to its customers.

As part of the upgrade people buying prescription drugs will be able to purchase other toiletry items at the same POS, large items such as wheelchairs bought in-store will be available for home delivery, and a click-and-collect service will be initiated on the retailer’s website.

Gareth Owen, Director of IT at Lloydspharmacy, comments: “As one of the UK’s leading community pharmacy operators we are keen to continue strengthening our market share and offer a range of purchasing methods convenient to our customers.

“This investment in a new electronic POS is essential to our strategy of building our non-dispensing business, in the light of continuing pressure on dispensing margins.”

The new POS system delivered by Torex will also speed up the in-store transaction process by fully integrating the prescription system, thus reducing queuing times.

Lloydspharmacy further enhanced its consumer offering by buying online medical advice service in February of this year.
