Lingerie retailer La Senza has unveiled an upsized version of its store at the Lakeside shopping centre in Thurrock, Essex.
By taking the vacant unit next to its existing outlet, which is situated at the House of Fraser end of the lower mall, and expanding into this space the new store totals 2,981 sq ft in size.
Along with expanding the store, the retailer has also installed its new shopfit at the site which includes new lines of products, more luxurious fitting rooms and the new La Senza brand colours of ivory and black throughout.
Sarah Hawkins, Marketing Director at La Senza, said: “The Lakeside store is one of our flagship stores and has performed very successfully for us so the opportunity to increase the breadth of our offer in Lakeside, as well as introduce our latest shopfit was too good to miss.”
La Senza’s expansion seems to be in response to rival lingerie trader Boux Avenue’s arrival at the Capital Shopping Centres (CSC) owned mall earlier this year as part of that companies nationwide roll-out of stores at similar sites.
Boux Avenue was created by entrepreneur and TV personality Theo Paphitis who sold his equity stake in the UK and EU segment of La Senza for a reported £100 million in 2006.
Jonathan Ainsley, Director of Asset Management (south) at CSC London, commented: “La Senza has always performed well in Lakeside so we are delighted to have been able to work in partnership with them to raise their profile yet further in the centre.
“The opening follows the launch of fellow lingerie brand Boux Avenue in April and continues a raft of great openings for Lakeside which later this year will also include new stores for fashion retailers Choice, Bhs and Topshop/Topman and a fantastic flagship for Forever 21 next year.”
