Supermarket chain Morrisons has launched a lottery that gives customers the chance to win £100 every day until the end of the month, it was announced today.
‘Morrisons Millions’ will see the grocer offering a cash giveaway with over £2 million in total prize money available.
Customers will be entered into a daily draw for every £1 they spend in store, with three customers per day in every store scooping a £100 prize.
This latest campaign is the most recent promotion by the retailer, as ‘the big four’ supermarkets rush to offer initiatives aimed at increasing sales following the recently announced ‘Big Price Drop’ by supermarket Tesco.
While competitors have moved to offer price reductions and greater value for money, Morrisons has remained quiet over the issue, though earlier this month, M Kitchen was launched aimed at consumers on the go looking for quick-to-make meals.
Under the new lottery scheme, customers who spend £20 in store get 20 chances to win and their Morrisons Millions number will be printed on their till receipt.
Winners will be able to see if their number has won on the Morrisons website or in stores, as the company seeks to increase traffic to its website, created in conjunction with baby product retailer Kiddicare in a deal arranged in February this year.
Richard Lancaster, Corporate Marketing & Operations Director for Morrisons, explained that the scheme has been planned since June and is being strategically launched ahead of the busy Christmas period.
“At Morrisons we know how hard it is for our customers given the worsening economic situation,” he commented.
“With Christmas fast approaching, Morrisons Millions is designed to give some much needed relief to 20,000 hard pressed families, and this in addition to our usual low prices and great deals.’’
