Health & beauty retailer Superdrug is to open a new 7,000 sq ft store with a redesigned layout at The Trafford Centre in Manchester on Friday.
Using the new store format first launched at the trader’s Wimbledon outlet in March, the new shop is larger than traditional Superdrug stores and will feature open frontage and colour-coded sections.
The Wimbledon store introduced a more department store type feel to the perfume counters and an improved pharmacy area with consultation room, and so these features are also likely to be replicated at the new unit.
Nigel Duxbury, Superdrug Property Director, said: “We are delighted to be opening a new design beauty concept store in The Trafford Centre and look forward to giving beauty lovers even more reasons to visit the centre.”
Capital Shopping Centres (CSC), owner of The Trafford Centre, has been agreeing a number of store refit deals in recent months, as retailers look to entice cautious consumers with a more engaging physical presence.
Dune and Thomas Sabo have already upsized at the shopping centre, Debenhams and Marks & Spencer completed major expansions earlier this year, and La Senza and Ernest Jones will both open expanded units with new shop formats in the next few days.
Julian Wilkinson, Asset Management Director at CSC, said: “The Trafford Centre is a fantastic venue for retailers wanting to showcase the very best in their shopfits and Superdrug is another great example of a retailer who has chosen to do exactly that.”
