Distiller and brewer Adnams has expanded its retail offer into the centre of London, with the opening of two new stores in Spitalfields and Bloomsbury.
The Cellar & Kitchen retail stores offer wine, food and kitchenware , and the Spitalfields store also provides a range of award-winning beers and spirits, while the Bloomsbury offering, which opened last Friday, offers a separate wine-tasting room which can be hired out for private events or meetings.
Adnams is primarily a traditional brewery established in 1890 which opened its first retail offering outside Southwold in Norfolk in 2005.
News of this latest development comes as wine merchant Oddbins re-launched on the high street last week, six months after the company fell into administration due to rising competition from the large supermarkets in the UK.
Chapelfield, Norwich will be the next location in which Adnams increases its retail presence, as the House of Fraser department store in the area is set to open a concession, bringing the company’s total number of outlets to 14.
In the past month, the company has also added a mini store to its retail portfolio, situated within the Waterside Garden Centre in Baston near Peterborough. Martin Wilkinson, Retail Director at Adnams, claimed that the quality of the Suffolk-based brand’s products as well as its premium locations are the main reasons for continued growth.
“We’ve got high hopes for both new stores, especially in the run up to the Christmas period where, in addition to fabulous range of wines and kitchenware, we will stock many festive food and gift items,” he said.
“We are really excited about bringing a taste of the Suffolk coast to London.”
