High-street giant Marks & Spencer (M&S) has launched a new click & collect service for its foodhall favourites ahead of the busy Christmas period.
Operating under the tagline ‘Food to order: Dining made easy’ the service was launched last week and is an extension of the retailer’s existing offer to purchase party food online before collecting it in store.
A spokesperson told Retail Gazette: “Effectively, we have had an online food service for a number of years and have added a dining section containing more specialist products including vegetarian options and gluton-free items.
“This was really designed to give customers more flexibility and choice.”
M&S has shifted its focus to multichannel platforms in recent times and earlier this week appointed New Look’s Dom McBrien as its new Multichannel Trading Director.
McBrien will be working alongside a newly-appointed e-commerce team including Executive Director of Multichannel E-commerce Laura Wade-Gery, Multichannel Development Director David Walmsley and Susan Aubrey-Cound, M&S’s new Channel Development Director, as the retailer seeks to improve its profile in the market.
This latest offering comes with less than 100 shopping days until Christmas, the busiest period of the calendar for the high street trader.
“Celebration is a key part of our food offering and we are happy to offer our foodhall favourites online as we are a primary destination for events food,” the spokesman added.
