High street retailer Marks and Spencer (M&S) has today announced the appointment of a new Head of Design for its Per Una and Limited Edition clothing ranges.

Carole Boyes-Weston will join the team from High Fashion UK and has previously worked at fashion retailer Next, among others.

The new appointment will see Boyes-Weston take over from Helen Low, who is rumoured to be joining George at Asda, and is the latest in a series of senior changes at the retailer.

Last week, M&S reported a total sales fall of 0.9 per cent for its first quarter, while sales of general merchandise dropped 5.1 per cent in total over the period.

As these results were announced, the retailer also confirmed that General Merchandise Executive Director Kate Bostock would be stepping down in September and that it is looking to strength its buying & merchandising team ahead of the release of Autumn/Winter collections.

Welcoming Boyes-Weston to her new role, an M&S spokesperson said: “We‘re delighted to confirm that Carole Boyes-Weston will be joining Marks & Spencer with immediate effect as Head of Design for Per Una and Limited Collection.

“Carole has a wealth of design experience and it‘s a pleasure to welcome her to the team.”
