Optician Vision Express has secured a deal with celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal to create a line of glasses frames, it has been announced today.

Blumenthal‘s diverse and innovative approach to the culinary world made him an attractive advocate for the eyewear company who stock many high end designer ranges.

A wearer of glasses himself, the Michelin star chef will work with British designers Tom Davies from Richmond and Inspecs of Bath to come up with the exclusive collection.

Jonathan Lawson, Vision Express CEO is very happy with the collaboration which will be available in all stores throughout the UK and Ireland.

He commented: “We are delighted to be working with Heston, whose passion for eyewear and eye care was evident from the start.

“We both have a clear common desire to drive higher levels of quality and innovation in British optical retail.”

Blumenthal also offers a celebrity range for upmarket grocer Waitrose which recently reporting that his Christmas menu will feature a reinvention of the traditional Baked Alaska and will be available from October, highlighting the continued interest in using famous faces to drive customers in store.

Blumenthal, who now wears Tom Davies frames with bespoke lenses from Vision Express, commented: “Both eyewear and eye care are obviously very important to me and I have been really impressed by the quality of my eye examination, which has already led to improvements in the visual quality of my leisure and work time.”

The launch date for the eyewear range is yet to be confirmed.
