US fashion brand American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) will open three UK stores by this Autumn as it begins its assault on the UK.

The brand will open in shopping centres Bluewater, Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City.

The store openings follows recent forays into the UK market by fellow US fashion brands J Crew and Forever 21.

Simon Nankervis, executive vice president, Americas and global country licensing at AEO commented: “We see a tremendous global appetite for the brand and believe that having a presence at Bluewater will provide great exposure for us in this significant new market.”

The Bluewater store will be 4,818 sq ft while the Westfield stores are expected to cover 9,000 sq ft.

The retailer, operated by franchiser Alshaya in the Middle East, is aiming to have 100 stores open across 14 countries by the end of the year. The firm currently operates more than 1,000 stores in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, and Hong Kong, and ships to 81 countries worldwide through its websites.

Additionally, the company has a presence in 13 licensed countries, and expects to be located in more than 100 international franchise stores in 14 countries by the end of the year.
