North Yorkshire police have said that its investigation into the Asos fire in Barnsley will take “months” to conclude.

A spokeswoman declined to give a specific date to schedule its findings but said the ongoing investigation will take longer than expected due to the sheer size of the Barnsley distribution centre.

Police continue to treat the fire as arson and it is understood this position has not changed.

Fire ripped through Asos‘s distribution centre in Barnsley, which houses 70 per cent of its entire stock, in late June and destroyed 20 per cent of stock, but the retailer managed to get up and running again within 48 hours.

Asos declined to comment.
