Manchester‘s luxury retailers will be reveling in the news of a former Harrods sales director becoming a senior consult at retail consultancy firm Retail Remedy.

Paul Thomas will offer his expertise of more than 26 years in retail to Retail Remedy. Providing support in areas like strategy, sourcing, buying, team development and customer advocacy from the vast experience earned from his various roles at the luxury London retailer.

Commenting on his appointment, Paul said:

“I‘m thrilled to be joining a Retail Remedy team that is highly regarded within the retail sector for the consistently high level of strategic thinking and operational expertise it brings to the table.

“I believe my experience of the retail sector, and in particular the high-end luxury retail environment, will significantly enhance the Retail Remedy offering. I‘m looking forward to building on the successes that the team at Retail Remedy has achieved to date.”

Paul started out as just a modest shop-floor Saturday worker at Adsa when he was 17. Working his way up, he managed five of their stores and eventually moved on to Sainsbury‘s, and then Harrods.

At Harrods for six years, he conducted day-to-day retail operations, and eventually worked his way up to manage a team of more than 400 as head of the retail food hall division, and delivered consistent year on year growth.

He then went on to head a team of more than 4,500 in December 2011. In that time he raised the stores sales revenue by almost 50%, and became a founding member of the Harrods‘ corporate responsibility programme.

This is good news for the consultancy team at Retail Remedy, as Paul‘s first hand knowledge and experience at such a distinguished and world famous store makes him a highly regarded and valuable member of distinct caliber.

Phil Dorrell, Director, Retail Remedy, added: “Retail Remedy are delighted to welcome Paul to the team. His in-depth knowledge of the luxury retail market makes him the perfect fit for this challenging role.

“As a business, we pride ourselves on the quality of the retail team‘s heritage. Paul‘s appointment gives us tremendous strength in retail consulting and complements our work within the luxury sector.

“We are confident that Paul will become a huge asset both for Retail Remedy and the many retail clients who rely on our insight.”
