After almost a year of redevelopment, UNIQLO has announced the reopening of its global flagship store on 311 Oxford Street.

Set for Friday 18 March, the grand reopening will see the flagship store showing off two additional floors and a new roof terrace which “will play host to exciting exclusive events in the upcoming months”. Though details of these events remain hidden at this stage, the grand reopening is set to feature “a cast of London talent who are contributing to the city through their respective fields.”

Throughout the main store displays will feature “staple technology” from UNIQLO, which includes LED tickers and rotating mannequins.

The store will also feature a new conceptual sales area: the UNIQLO WearHouse London is a nod to the company‘s original name, as well as an opportunity to showcase LifeWear. It will be able to be accessed both from the main store and from its own Oxford Street entrance, and is designed to provide a “cultural hub” which will include “unique events throughout the year.”

“London was UNIQLO‘s first market outside of Japan when we opened in 2001,” said Takao Kuwahara, CEO for UNIQLO Europe. “Our London Global Flagship Store followed in November 2007, offering the largest UNIQLO sales floor space in the world at the time. The redevelopment, almost 10 years later, demonstrates UNIQLO‘s longstanding commitment to London and our desire to continue to improve our offering for both a local and a global customer audience.”

As part of the reopening, UNIQLO is launching a dedicated online shopping assistant to act as a store guide. It will also keep customers informed of stock levels at UNIQLO stores across London.
