Tesco has appointed Lindsey Pownall, chilled and ambient foods expert as its new Non-Executive Director. Pownall will join the UK‘s leading supermarket chain on 1 April and will also be part of the corporate responsibility committee.
Pownall was previously at premium food supplier Samworth Brothers for twenty years, retiring from her role as Chief Executive in December last year. Samworth encompasses a number of brands including Ginsters, Dickinson & Morris pork pies, Walkers pies and Walkers sausages, also provides ready meals, pies, deserts and cakes for M&S, Morrisons, Waitrose and Tesco.
The new Non-Exec Director‘s experience will bring significant insight in food, grocery and retail brand development to Tesco in addition to her strong background in supply leadership and strategic development.
“She brings a wealth of relevant experience, and complements the existing skills and experience on the board” said Tesco‘s Chairman John Allan.
“She will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to the board.”
