Amazon will open its third warehouse in Doncaster next year, creating 500 permanent jobs in addition to the 3500 that it plans to recruit by the end of 2016.

Once completed and operating, the Doncaster warehouse will bring Amazon‘s total UK workforce to 15,500 employees.

The purpose of the new warehouse, to be developed in iPort, is to bolster the online retailer‘s fulfilment offer and will recruit staff for various roles, such as operation managers and engineers.

Meanwhile, Amazon‘s Manchester and Leicestershire fulfilment centres are expected to open in the autumn.

“We already have two fulfilment centres in Doncaster so know from experience that there is strong talent in the region who would be well suited to working for Amazon,” UK operations vice-president John Tagawa said.

“We look forward to hearing from people to fill a range of roles you would expect of a business like Amazon, from specialist professions such as engineering, HR or IT, through to large strategic leadership roles and people to fulfil customer orders maintaining our customer promise.”
