Lidl UK chief operating officer Martine Bailie has resigned after 14 years with the the discount grocery chain, just a month after former chief executive Ronny Gottschlich‘s sudden departure.
According to Retail Week, Bailie is to pursue “another opportunity” after being “offered a job opportunity outside the business”. His last day with Lidl UK is November 30.
Bailie had been in the chief operating officer chair since September 2015 after spending four years in a similar role for Lidl Ireland.

He will hand over his responsibilities for Lidl UK‘s logistics and store networks to Tim Ulbrich and Robert Ryan, who have joined the company‘s board as operations board directors.
Bailie‘s resignation comes just weeks after Gottschlich left the helm of the business after six years, while Chris Walker – Bailie‘s former co-chief operating officer – has moved on to Big 4 chain Asda.
Christian Härtnagel has since replaced Gottschlich as the new Lidl UK boss.
