Maplin‘s chief technology officer Neil McGowan has departed from the retailer after a little more than a year since being appointed in the role.

McGowan was recruited as part of a management overhaul in July last year that saw Oliver Meakin appointed as chief executive of the electricals retailer.

Previously, McGowan worked in IT roles for N Brown, Shop Direct, Volkswagon and the Ministry of Justice.

While his responsibilities at Maplin will be absorbed by chief financial officer Lindsay Dunsmuir, it is not yet known if this would be on an interim or permanent basis.
