Fashion and lifestyle retailer Joules recorded strong sales in its seven-week period to January 8, with 22.8 per cent growth in total sales compared to the same period last year.

Retail gross margin rate is now forecast to be marginally ahead of the previous year, which Joules attributed to continued growth across both bricks-and-mortar stores and online.

“This strong outcome over the important Christmas trading period reflects the growing awareness and strength of the Joules brand,” chief executive Colin Porter said.

“The success of our disciplined, multi”channel, sales strategy across this important trading period is made possible by the dedication and commitment of our team.”

The high street chain will post its interim results for the 26-week period ending November 27 2016 later this month.
