Trade tools and hardware retailer Screwfix has promoted Graham Smith as its new marketing director.

Smith, who has been with the multichannel retailer since 2009 and was most recently the retail marketing director, will take over the position from John Mewett who is now group digital director at parent company Kingfisher.

Before his promotion Smith played an instrumental part in a number of important customer initiatives, including the delivery of promotional plans across Screwfix‘s stores and building brand awareness through advertising and sponsorship campaigns.

He also led the marketing activity for the launch new stores in the retailer‘s expansion programme.

As marketing director, Smith will join Screwfix‘s board and have overall responsibility for marketing across the retailer.

Meanwhile, Mewett will continue to oversee e-commerce for Screwfix and remains as a Screwfix board member.

Smith‘s appointment comes at a time of growth for Screwfix as it continues to expand its store network.  It opened its milestone 500th store in Enfield earlier this month.

“Screwfix‘s core objective is to help our customers do their jobs quickly, affordably and right first time,” Smith said.

“At the heart of this is our commitment to deliver high levels of convenience for our customers.

“From this perspective, I‘ll be focused on making sure we deliver this across all our channels as we continue to grow the business.”

Prior to joining Screwfix, Smith held several senior commercial roles at other UK retailers.
