The chief executive of global fashion retailer Benetton has announced his departure following a three-year stint in the role.

Marco Airoldi will leave the company on May 16, after joining in 2014.

A successor has yet to be named, but chairman Francesco Gori will now take on staff responsibilities.

Diesel USA chief executive Tommaso Bruso has also re-joined the fashion giant, taking the role as chief operating officer.

Prior to his role at Diesel, Bruso held the role of retail operations manager at Benetton between 1999 and 2002.

Benetton‘s board of directors said Airoldi underwrote the “definition and launch of the company refocus”, honing in on selected markets and launching a redesign of the brand‘s stores.

Bruso brings a wealth of fashion retail experience to the role, acting as chief executive of Diesel since 2013, following a stint as chief executive at Furla in the US in 2008.
