Asda scraps 10,000 bags for life after spelling mistake

Asda has been forced to throw away 10,000 special edition bags for life following a “genuine printing error” which misspelt the location of the store it promoted.

To mark the opening of its first store on the Isle of Wight, the retailer printed 10,000 bags for life emblazoned with the design of two local children and its location the “Isle of White”.

The gaff prompted a backlash on social media and the hashtag #retailfail was quickly trending.

“We‘re hanging our heads for making this genuine printing error and we‘re in the process of reproducing the exclusive design to get back on sale as quickly as possible,” an Asda spokesman said.
