Crew Clothing brand director to step down

Crew Clothing brand director Lisa Illis is set to leave the retailer in May, according to Drapers.

Her departure comes less than two months after David Butler came on board as its new chief executive, replacing Louise Barnes who also stepped down after the business changed hands.

Illis has been with Crew Clothing since 2014, and was part of its turnaround management as she oversaw its product design, product development, marketing and creative teams.

“Following the sale of the business in December, and after three and a half years at Crew Clothing Company, Lisa has taken the decision to leave the brand,” Butler said.

“During her time Lisa has overseen a re-positioning of the brand; clarified the distinctiveness of the product; successfully embedded a wholly joined-up approach and delivery of the look and feel of the brand, through customer communications, and therefore helped the recent results and growth in brand awareness.

“I would like to thank Lisa for her hard work and commitment to the brand, she has been a key partner in its development prior to the transaction in December.”

Prior to Crew Clothing, Illis was owner and creative director at her own clothing and accessories company Illis Inc and has also worked for Cath Kidston and FatFace.

Other changes at Crew Clothing include the promotion of Angharad Carter-Clout to finance director, replacing Stuart Owens, who stepped down in December.
