Harveys and Bensons for Beds hire new creative director

Harveys and Bensons for Beds has bolstered its senior leadership team with the appointment of Alison Hill as the brands’ first creative director.

She will work across both Steinhoff-owned retail chains to bring to life its commercial vision, support new innovation and steer the creative product development strategy.

Reporting to Harveys managing director Kalwant Singh, her remit will have a focus on the furniture brand while also supporting the Bensons business.

Hill will play a key part in changing the perception of both brands with a younger and more style-conscious demographic, developing creative collections and ensuring that both brands are on the front foot with trends.

Hill will be making the move from a similar role at furniture retailer DFS.

Prior to that, she was part of the team responsible for the launch of the first upholstery range for lifestyle retailer Joules.

Her previous roles also included head of brand and product development at Conran Holdings Limited, where she assisted in growing the Conran licensed business, and five years as head of design at Debenhams, where she provided creative direction for the department store’s entire home range while working in close collaboration with the Designers at Debenhams initiative.

“We’re delighted to have Alison on board, and feel her extensive experience working across big retailers and realising a creative vision will prove invaluable,” Singh said.

Hill added: “Harveys and Bensons are in the middle of great change and innovation, so I’m delighted to be able to support this and be part of a committed and driven team.”
