The £1.4 billion development of Brent Cross Shopping Centre, which is set to see the site double in size, will now be delayed by six months.
Building work, which was due to start next month, has now been delayed by six months and will now start in January 2019.
The proposed development, which will introduce 200 new retail stores to the centre, required a 370 acre compulsory purchase order to go ahead.
However, a 17-month delay between an enquiry into the compulsory purchase order and the signing of it has caused its construction date to be pushed back, according to Barnet Council committee.
Sajid Javid, then secretary of state for communities and local government, signed the order in December 2017.
The joint venture between Standard Life and Hammerson will also include 60 new restaurants, a state of the art cinema, 7600 parking spaces, an ambitious living bridge and a new Brent town centre.
It will coincide with a £4.5 billion wider development of Brent Cross and Cricklewood.
