Orla Kiely’s parent company has fallen in administration leading to the closure of all it bricks-and-mortar stores.
The fashion retailer, renowned for its elaborate 1970’s style prints, is understood to have told staff that the company could not afford to pay their wages, before making them redundant on Monday.
Its UK stores in London’s King’s Road and Seven Dials will no close, as will its store in Kildare, Ireland and its website.
Kiely Rowan, the brand’s parent company, appointed David Ruben & Partners as administrators earlier this week, becoming the latest retail casualty this year.
It is understood that Orla Kiely goods will still be sold through third party retailers.
“Thank you for embracing our brand and designs throughout the years and for your ongoing support,” a spokesperson said.
“Orla Kiely’s home and design licensing business will not be affected, and its selection of accessories and homewares will continue to be sold through its distribution partners.”
