Peacocks the latest retailer to join war on plastic

Peacocks has become the latest retailer to join the industry-wide war on plastic, after it announced plans to switch to completely bio-degradable bags.

The fashion retailer said the scheme would start being rolled out to all 500 of its stores around the UK from this month.

Peacocks said they would complement the biodegradable bags by continuing to sell its charitable “bag for life” bags.

The retailer is also planning to extend its environmentally-conscious packaging efforts to online orders in the near future.

“We are delighted to be rolling out bio-degradable bags across all of our stores as part of a wider overall strategy of reducing our environmental footprint,” Peacocks finance director Leighton Humphreys said.
