McColl’s appoints Robbie Bell as new chief financial officer

McColl’s has hired Robbie Bell to take on the role of chief financial officer.

Bell will join the convenience retailer on January 17 after stepping down from his current role as chief executive of motorway service operator Welcome Break.

At McColl’s, he will replace Simon Fuller, who will leave the company on February22 following a handover period.

Bell first joined Welcome Break in 2017 as chief financial officer before being promoted to the top spot, but before that he was chief financial officer of Screwfix from 2009.

His previous roles also include UK finance director of Travelodge and a number of senior finance positions at Tesco, including roles within the supermarket’s commercial buying division and as a finance director.

“I am delighted to welcome someone of Robbie’s calibre and expertise to the board,” McColl’s chief executive Jonathan Miller said.

“With such a wealth of senior experience in retail and finance, he will add significant strength to the team.

“I am confident Robbie will make a valuable contribution as we deliver our strategy to enhance our neighbourhood convenience offer.”
