Marks and Spencer is looking to hire 450 permanent staff for full and part time roles at its new national distribution centre in Welham Green, Hertfordshire.

M&S is working with DHL, which operates the warehouse and has already hired for 150 roles to deliver clothing and home products to more than 90 stores in the south east.

DHL started operating the site this month and is now focusing on building the centre over the next year, and will recruit a number of 600 permanent staff by the end of 2019.

At its peak, Welham Green will recruit 1000 staff members.

The staff will be responsible for organising and packing products to deliver to stores, and oversee customer returns as well as organise and manage stock.

“Our new clothing and home distribution centre in Welham Green will not only support our stores in the South East but ensure better availability and choice for our customers,” M&S head of programme delivery Rob Davies.

“We are really excited to be working with DHL to offer hundreds of jobs to communities in and around Hertfordshire.”
