Specialist audio-visual retailer Superfi has become the latest victim of the gloomy conditions on the UK high street after it mysteriously ceased trading this week.
A source told Retail Gazette that Superfi had shuttered all six of its stores earlier this week.
Little is known as to what brought about their closure, but it’s thought that the retailer had filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator on February 5.
The retailer’s website – which had been advertising a “clearance sale” at Superfi stores – also appears to be down.
The Retail Gazette has tried contacting Superfi for more details, including clarification on how many staff are affected and what the future holds for the business.
According to What Hi-Fi, the retailer told suppliers in an email that all existing stock had been transferred to the firm’s central warehouse.
The Financial Conduct Authority is also reportedly looking into the situation.
Superfi’s stores are located in Camden, London, as well as Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham, Derby and Lincoln.
