Tesco selling Jack’s products to compete with discounters

// Tesco begins selling Jack’s-branded products in its core supermarket business
// The Big 4 leader plans to compete more effectively with discount duo Aldi & Lidl
// Selected Jack’s items will be stocked in 850 Tesco stores until May 27

Tesco has started selling Jack’s-branded products in its core supermarket business for the first time in a bid to compete with discounters Aldi and Lidl.

The Big 4 leader has worked with its suppliers to produce 1800 Jack’s-branded entry-level products.

Selected Jack’s items – named after discount grocery fascia launched in September last year – will be stocked in 850 Tesco stores until May 27.

The items include apple juice, orange juice, mineral water, diet lemonade and salt & vinegar sticks.

Since the launch of the first store in Cambridgeshire eight months ago, Tesco has rolled out eight Jack’s stores.

The initiative follows Tesco cutting prices off branded and own-label products in order to celebrate its 100th birthday.

This included offering 50 per cent discounts on selected items for its Clubcard holders last week.
