Asos under fire for labelling women’s size 14 clothing as XL

Asos has come under fire from shoppers who have criticised the online fashion retailer for labelling women’s size 14 clothing as extra large.

Asos prides itself on promoting body inclusivity, yet it was called out by a consumer on Twitter for its controversial sizing system, the Manchester Evening News reported.

The size guide in question calls a size 8 a “small”, while a size 14 is considered “extra large”.

Marina’s tweet quickly attracted a lot of attention, and other social media users shared their similar experiences of shopping and uncomfortable sizing guides.

Asos has had a challenging year so far.

It most recently faced an increased number of attacks from short-selling traders after it posted a second profit warning in seven months.

Shares in the online fashion retailer have already fallen by 70 per cent since its peak last year at 7730p.
