Tesco has revealed plans to open pop-ups across the UK to present its Finest own-brand range in the run-up to the crucial Christmas period.

Tesco is reportedly interested in “white box store front locations” of more than 1500sq ft in London as well as other cities.

The pop-ups are likely to run for four to six weeks over November and December.

The news follows Sainsbury’s initiative in opening pop-ups such as a meat-free butcher and a non-alcoholic pub across London in the summer.

Tesco also said it would recruit 9000 extra staff for the crucial Christmas period.

The seasonal customer service roles will support teams in Tesco superstores.

The grocer said it will encourage festive staff to apply for any permanent jobs available in their stores after the festive period.
