Moonpig has reported sales of £100 million thanks to the increase in demand for personalised cards.

The online greetings card retailer, which was founded by Dragon’s Den star Nick Jenkins, said its sales rose 82 per cent in the year to June 2019.

Jenkins sold the business in 2011 and Kate Swann, formerly chief executive at WHSmith, was appointed in August as Moonpig’s chairwoman.

“Customers have bought into our vision. A personalised card is always more meaningful, whether sent from the sofa, the commute, or the gym,” group chief executive Nickyl Raithatha said.

This year has seen Moonpig separate from its parent company Photobox into an autonomous business alongside its Dutch sister firm Greetz.

Swann said 90 per cent of greeting cards are still sold offline so there is “still a huge potential for growth”.

  1. I love moonpig, it’s so easy to use and I can send to my family and friends in New York. So easy to send a card to anyone, I sent one to my friends dog that was unwell at the time. My friend was blown away . Would recommend a 1000 percent
