Jigsaw has hired former Karen Millen chief executive Beth Butterwick to work on a project on an interim basis.

According to Drapers, Jigsaw said Butterwick is “currently working on a project” but would not reveal the details of what this entails.

Jigsaw also stressed that Butterwick was not appointed as interim chief executive.

Butterwick exited Karen Millen and Coast in August last year, shortly after Boohoo’s acquisition of the two brands.

She had joined Karen Millen as chief executive in 2016 after a stint in a similar role with Bonmarche.

Jigsaw’s current boss Toby Foreman has been in the role on an interim basis for almost a year.

Earlier this month, news emerged that Jigsaw was reportedly seeking a 30 per cent rent reduction from its landlords and has asked to delay rent payments.

The fashion retailer had reportedly appointed real estate consultants from Colliers International to advise on its property portfolio, in particular on sites in regional locations.
