Shoe Zone has promoted its chief operating officer Charles Smith as its new chairman.
Smith is an existing board member and major shareholder of Shoe Zone with a 22.2 per cent shareholding.
He was appointed interim chairman in August.

Smith first joined the shoe retailer in 1998 and progressed through store manager and area manager, joining the board as chief operating officer in 2001.
Since then, he has worked closely with his brother and Shoe Zone chief executive, Anthony Smith, along with other members of the management team to “ensure integration of acquired businesses with Shoe Zone’s existing business and the Shoe Zone culture”.
Smith is a founder and Trustee of Shoe Zone Trust. Outside of Shoe Zone he is a board member and Trustee of three other charities.
