The Body Shop posts quarterly sales & profits uptick

// For The Body Shop on its own, net revenue was up 6.7% for Q4, with UK sales up 5.4% Adjusted EBITDA up 7.8%

Natura & Co has posted another strong performance in the fourth quarter of 2019, as it praised the performance of The Body Shop in its core UK market.

The Brazilian beauty conglomerate saw a 12.2 per cent increase in adjusted EBITDA, coming in at R$816.7 million (£134.86 million).

Meanwhile, Natura &Co’s consolidated net revenue reached R$4.7 billion (£776.1 million) in the quarter, up 7.3 per cent on a reported basis and up 6.1 per cent at constant currency.

Underlying operating income, which excluded one-off items, was by 18.2 per cent.

Natura & Co said the fourth-quarter performance capped another transformational year which ended with the acquisition of US beauty giant Avon, thus making it the world’s fourth-largest pure play beauty group.

For the full year, consolidated net revenue grew 7.8 per cent on a reported basis and seven per cent at constant currency to R$14.4 billion (£2.3 billion).

Adjusted EBITDA for the year was up 7.5 per cent to $R2 billion (£330.26 million) while underlying operating income increased 5.7 per cent year-on-year.

For The Body Shop on its own, Natura & Co said the British ethical beauty retailer continued to make headway in its transformation plan.

Net revenue was up 6.7 per cent for the fourth quarter, with sales in its core UK market up by 5.4 per cent. Adjusted EBITDA was up 7.8 per cent.

On a full-year basis, The Body Shop’s sales rose 6.3 per cent year-on-year and adjusted EBITDA was up 15.5 per cent.

Other than The Body Shop and now Avon, Natura & Co’s other brands include Australian luxury skin care brand Aesop, and Natura itself.
