WHSmith partners with Sainsbury’s to sell groceries in hospitals

WHSmith and Sainsbury’s have extended their supply partnership to hospitals to help support NHS staff amid the coronavirus pandemic.

WHSmith will be stocking an extended range of Sainsbury’s grocery products to “support the needs of NHS staff and make it easier for them to buy food and essential items”.

The partnership will bring more than 90 additional Sainsbury’s products into 80 WHSmith stores across hospitals, including essentials such as toilet roll, pasta and long-life food products.

NHS staff will continue to receive a 20 per cent discount on all products in WHSmith hospital stores, including the Sainsbury’s items.

“We are so grateful for the exceptional efforts and commitment of our NHS staff and are delighted to extend our support across WHSmith hospital stores to make their days a little easier,” WHSmith travel business managing director Toby Keir said.

“I would also like to thank our amazing store colleagues who are going above and beyond to ensure we are able to continue supporting our hospital communities at this critical time.”

Sainsbury’s business development director Michael Luck said: “Our phenomenal NHS staff are working incredibly hard to keep us all safe and well.

“We hope that by bringing some essential Sainsbury’s grocery products to WHSmith stores in hospitals we’ll make it a little bit easier for them to access the products they need most.”
