The retailer has been working with NHS teams in recent weeks and is now sending out clothing care packs to hospitals for patients when they get discharged.

It has extended its donations to the following hospitals:

“From this week, we are sourcing, packing and delivering the individual care packs, which each contain a t-shirt, jumper, joggers, underwear and socks, and will be available in a range of sizes,” M&S said.

Through the Neighbourly Community Fund, more than 150,000 people are benefiting from the 622 UK causes and groups that have already been accepted onto the funding scheme.

Last week, M&S introduced specially designed 10p bags for life in 560 Foodhalls, of which 100 per cent of profits will be donated to NHS Charities Together to support staff and volunteers caring for Covid-19 patients.
