Tesco has reportedly revealed plans to launch a 13th Jack’s store, despite speculations that it would close the chain last year.
The Big 4 grocer said the new Jack’s will take over a vacant Mothercare store in Kingston, Hull, in northern England, and has submitted plans to the local council, The Grocer reported.
Tesco said it has always been looking for potential sites for new Jack’s stores.

Tesco chief executive Dave Lewis launched the Jack’s format, named after Tesco’s founder Jack Cohen, in September 2018 at a store in Chatteris, eastern England.
The store aimed to take a similar initiative to the German discounters Aldi and Lidl by focusing on own-brand items to keep costs to a minimum.
However, Jack’s progress has been slow and doubts about its future came last September when the Jack’s store in Rawtenstall, north west England, was closed and was reverted into a Tesco.
Lewis is due to leave Tesco in October after six years at the helm and will be succeeded by former Walgreens Boots Alliance executive Ken Murphy.
