Hugo Boss hires new chief sales officer as CEO steps aside

Hugo Boss has named Oliver Timm as its new chief sales officer and confirmed that its chief executive Mark Langer will step aside to a consultative role later this month.

The news comes the same week the upmarket menswear retailer expanded its online store to now trade in an additional 22 countries.

Due to take up his role in January next year, Timm will be responsible for the German fashion brand’s own retail operations as well as its wholesale and ecommerce businesses.

His career spans over 20 years working with PVH, working his way up to chief commercial officer with responsibility for driving commercial strategies for Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein across the EMEA region.

Hugo Boss also said chief executive Mark Langer would vacate his seat on the managing board and move to a consultative role on July 16, two months earlier than planned.

Last month Hugo Boss announced Daniel Grieder as its new chief executive for a period of five years starting June 1, 2021

Chief financial officer Yves Müller will serve as the managing board’s spokesman until Grieder takes up his position next year.

“I am very happy that, with the addition of Oliver Timm, our managing board is now complete,” Hugo Boss chairman Hermann Waldemer said.

“The depth and breadth of his expertise in retail, wholesale and ecommerce make him the perfect candidate for a position of this significance at Hugo Boss.”

Meanwhile earlier this week, Hugo Boss said it was expanding its online store to an additional 22 countries, after stepping up investments as part of the retailer’s strategt to become “digital first”.

Until recently, customers in 15 countries, including the US, the UK, Germany, France and China, were able to experience the brand worlds of Boss and Hugo and order products online.

Now, the expanded ecommerce network includes an additional 22 countries, from Andorra and Australia to Poland and Portugal.

In the upcoming months, Canada, Mexico and India will soon join Hugo Boss’ online store portfolio list, making a total of 25 countries rolled out in 2020 and an overall online presence encompassing 40 countries.
