Moss Bros non-executive chairman Colin Porter has reportedly stepped down, along with several other directors as the menswear retailer transitions to a private company.

Senior independent non-executive director Alex Gersh, and non-executive directors Gareth Jones, Maurice Helfgott, and Avis Darzins, all stepped down from the business last month.

Moss Bros is being bought for £22.6 million by a group of private investors led by Crew Clothing owner Menoshi Shina.

The board of Moss Bros had agreed to the terms of a cash offer of 22p per share by Brigadier Acquisition Company back in March.

As the acquiring parent company already has a board, the Moss Bros board is being dismantled, Drapers reported.

Meanwhile, Moss Bros chief executive Brian Brick and chief financial officer Bill Adams will remain on the parent company board.

Porter joined the Moss Bros board in March last year as an independent non-executive director.

He was formerly the chief executive of Joules, where he led the development of the business through an international multichannel strategy.

Separately, Moss Bros said last month it would launch a one-to-one in-store appointment service as its stores began to reopen on June 15.

The new service allows customers to book appointments and skip the queue for a personalised shopping experience.

Appointments are free of charge, with no obligation for customers to make a purchase, and bookings can be made online.
